Synchronizing time on servers
To configure time synchronization on servers:
- Install chrony:
sudo apt install chrony
- Configure the system time to synchronize with the NTP server:
- Make sure the virtual machine has Internet access.
If access is available, go to step b.
If internet access is not available, edit the
/etc/chrony.conf
file to replace2.pool.ntp.org
with the name or IP address of your organization's internal NTP server. - Start the system time synchronization service by executing the following command:
sudo systemctl enable --now chronyd
- Wait a few seconds and run the following command:
sudo timedatectl | grep 'System clock synchronized'
If the system time is synchronized correctly, the output will contain the line "System clock synchronized: yes".
- Make sure the virtual machine has Internet access.
Synchronization is configured.
