Kaspersky Protection browser extension
In order for Kaspersky Free to fully support browsers, the Kaspersky Protection extension must be installed and enabled in the browsers. Kaspersky Free uses the Kaspersky Protection extension to inject a script into traffic. The application uses this script to interact with the web page. The application protects data transmitted by the script using a digital signature. The application can embed the script without using the Kaspersky Protection extension.
The application signs data transmitted by the script using the installed anti-virus databases and requests to Kaspersky Security Network. The application sends requests to Kaspersky Security Network regardless of whether or not you accepted the terms of the Kaspersky Security Network Statement.
When working with your browser, the Kaspersky Protection extension allows you to:
Inform about suspected phishing.
To report a suspected phishing website:
- Make sure you are on the page that you suspect is a phishing page.
- In the toolbar of the browser, click
Kaspersky Protection.
- In the extension menu, select Inform about suspected phishing.
- This opens a window; make sure the window displays the web address of the website you suspect of phishing.
- Click Inform.
Your report will be delivered to Kaspersky Security Network.
To inform about a website problem:
- Make sure you are on the page that you want to report as problematic.
- In the toolbar of the browser, click
Kaspersky Protection.
- In the extension menu, select Inform about website problem.
- This opens a window; make sure the window displays the web address of the website.
- Describe the problem in the text box.
- Click Inform.
The message is delivered.
Installing the Kaspersky Protection extension in Chromium-based Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, and Google Chrome
Automatic installation of Kaspersky Protection extension in Chromium-based Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, and Google Chrome is not available. You must download and install the Kaspersky Protection extension manually. You can download and install the extension from the notification window that is displayed when you start the browser for the first time after installing the application. Alternatively, you can download and install the extension from the application window.
- Open the main window of the application and perform the following actions:
- In the main window, find the recommendation to install the browser extension and click Enable.
- Select the Security section.
- Under Security, select Kaspersky Protection extension.
- Under Kaspersky Protection extension, select your browser and click Enable to open the extension installation window.
- Follow the standard procedure to install the extension in your browser (refer to the online help of your browser).
- When the installation is complete, enable the extension in one of the following ways:
- Under Kaspersky Protection extension, click Enable for the selected browser.
- Use the standard method for your browser (refer to the online help of your browser).
The Kaspersky Protection extension block and the recommendation to install the Kaspersky Protection extension in the main window become available when you start the browser for the first time after installing Kaspersky Free.
Yandex Browser support
When using Yandex Browser, the following application components are operating:
- URL Advisor
- Safe Browsing;
- Anti-Phishing.
Internet Explorer support
Starting with Kaspersky Free 2021, the Kaspersky Protection extension will no longer support the browser Internet Explorer. If you want to continue using the Kaspersky Protection extension in Internet Explorer, you can go back to the previous version of the application.
