Change the main password

For security reasons, it is recommended that you change your main password on a regular basis. If you suspect that your main password may have been compromised, change it immediately.

Note: You can only change the main password if your Mac is connected to the internet and there are no synchronization issues.

Change the main password

  1. Open the application pull-down menu and choose Settings.

    The application settings window opens.

  2. On the General tab, in the Main password section, click Change.

    The window for changing the main password opens.

  3. Enter your current main password.

  4. Enter a new main password.
  5. Confirm your new main password.
  6. Click Change to apply the new main password.

After

, the main password will be changed on all your devices.

If the main password was changed on another device

If the main password was changed on another device, you will be asked to re-enter the new main password on all your devices to sync data.

After the main password is changed on another device, the The main password has been changed on another device dialog appears and asks you to enter the new main password on the device you're currently using. In this dialog, perform one of the following actions:

  • Enter the new main password and click Sync. The data on your device will be replaced with data from the device on which the main password has been changed.
  • If you don’t remember the new main password, you can replace data on other devices with data from this device and use your previous main password:
    1. Click the I don’t know the new main password link.
    2. In the dialog that appears, click Replace Data on Other Devices.
    3. To confirm this operation, you need to enter the verification code that was emailed to you and click Confirm.

      The data in the vaults on other devices will be replaced with the data on this device.
